About Our Program

JBG Music Studios was founded with one goal in mind:  to provide a joyful piano experience for students and their families.  Our curriculum is designed with that goal in mind.  Lessons are filled with fun, interactive games and activities designed to excite, engage, and enamor students.  We listen to student feedback when choosing activities, and new material is constantly added to our library. Our teaching philosophy is guided by three principles:

  1. The teacher’s role is to guide students while they explore the piano.
A student uses animal figurines to learn the notes of the piano keyboard.

Every student is different and has their own unique needs.  At JBG Music Studios, students learn at their own pace with a teacher beside them to support and encourage every step of the way.  If a student shows an interest in a particular subject, the instructor creates opportunities for them to explore those interests during their lessons.  Students are given the opportunity to focus on their interests and create new ones.

  1. It’s okay to make mistakes.

There is a quote, sometimes attributed to Beethoven, that says: “To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.”  We embrace this sentiment in our lessons.  We strive to create an environment where students are free to learn without fear; where they feel comfortable to explore their musical potential and express themselves.  As a result, our students not only learn a treasured skill – they also develop confidence.

  1. We aspire to cultivate a passion for music and the piano.

At JBG Music Studios, piano lessons are anything but boring.  Lessons and activities are designed to be varied, exciting, and fun.  A typical class might begin at the piano learning a song, but end on the floor playing a game that encourages music theory skills.  Music, and learning to create music, is fantastic!  We want students to enjoy their lessons and leave with a smile.
